Current Bills in the States
Abortion is not healthcare, and taxpayers should not fund, incentivize, provide preferential tax treatment for, or otherwise subsidize the taking of an unborn life.
Despite a majority of Americans opposing taxpayer funding of abortion, many Members of Congress would like to allow taxpayer funding for abortions and increase funding for abortion businesses. The good news is that states are introducing legislation to stop them in their tracks.
The bills listed below address the three main streams of abortion funding – Medicaid (a joint federal-state health coverage program), Title X (a federal family planning grant program) and state appropriations.
Scroll through the list below to read brief descriptions of bills introduced in the United States this year that seek to restrict state funding of abortion.
