Parenthood

Family Research Council believes and social science demonstrates that children do best when raised by their biological mother and father who are committed to one another in a lifelong marriage. We also support adoption, which provide children with families that give them the experience of a permanent and stable intact married family life as much as possible.

Children conceived outside of marriage are just as valuable and deserving of life and love as those who are born to married parents. However, public and social policy should discourage the types of sexual relationships (or technologies) that result in such pregnancies and subsequent child-rearing in unmarried, single-parent, cohabiting, or same-sex parent homes.
